Another well-written Becky Bloomwood escapade. The story immediately continues where it left off in the first tale and Becky is dating Luke, working for the TV Station and climbing her way back into debt with her shopping problems. Becky accompanies Luck to New York on business and discovers the amazing shopping opportunities in America. In particular, she learns of sample sales and goes a little over the top when she shops in her normal Becky style. However, in this story, her debt is not her only problem and the relationship she has built with Luke is jeopardized. Her situation is very difficult and one wonders if she will be able to get out of it. All the important characters from the first story are in this tale and it is full of the humor that was seen in the initial story. A great enjoyable read that keeps your interest with its suspense and like the previous tales it still includes notes from her bank, etc. If you love chic literature and you have not read this series, you are really missing out!!

An interesting tale of a woman’s struggle to deal with being her husband’s second wife, the stepmother to his son, the other woman to his former wife, and the mother of his dead child. It is clear in the first chapter that the main character has suffered a great loss and is not dealing with her loss in a manageable way. This book has a flawed main character who needs to grow, experience and learn before she can become the wife, stepmother and mother she has pictured herself capable of being. I was pleasantly surprised by this story. Waldman does an excellent job of making this story very real and plausible. Her main character is definitely someone who you could relate to in the situation that she is in and that engages you in the story. This tale is like any piece of popular fiction engaging and easy to read. However, the first chapter is a little slow as the author attempts to establish the character and the conflicts. Once you get past this, the story is very enjoyable. Waldman currently writes the mystery fiction series The Mommy Track Series and this tale is from her early writings. A good story that was unexpected but enjoyable.

Another fantastic Dirk Pitt tale!! Although different from the normal Dirk Pitt style, this tale has many characters that help Dirk Pitt in his quest and Dirk is not involved in every single action / adventure part of this story. I was amazed that Cussler actually gave him a break. However, Dirk is involved in many crazy and ridiculous situations that he has to find his way out of and find solutions to his problem. This story focuses on a nuclear explosion that happens in deep sea and affects three boats surrounding the area as well as an underwater center where Dirk Pitt is located. He immediately becomes involved in the action and in discovering what or who caused the explosion. This story spans the United States as well as Japan and like normal Cussler does a good job of incorporating fact and fiction together. However, I find the ending where Dirk Pitt is resurrected from death (read it to understand what I am talking about) to be slightly insulting because it is highly improbably but then I realized what else could I expect from Clive Cussler. Great action and adventure book as well as series – if you are interested in this type of literature, then this book is for you.
